Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II had intense propensity to work with celestial bodies, therefore, he built five observatories in Delhi, Jaipur and other cities of India. Amongst those five observatories of Sawai Jai Singh II, the Jantar Mantar, Jaipur is biggest and it houses a number of instruments related to solar observations. 
Besides Jaisalmer Fort, the havelis of Jaisalmer enchanted me lot. Still the memories of my trip to Jaisalmer city is fresh in mind, which I am sharing with you all here. Jaisalmer, popularly known as the ' Golden City' is home to three popular havelis namely Salin Singh ki Haveli, Nathmal ki Haveli and Patwon ki Haveli.
Entire state of Rajasthan is home to a number of picturesque forts and monuments.Amongst the forts and monuments of Rajasthan, the Jaisalmer Fort is known worldover for its unique molten golden hue. One of the biggest forts of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer Fort looks like a wonder carved out from the vast and rugged breast of Thar Desert. 
Since its existence, Jainism had flourished a lot in the western and south-western parts of India. Even today, you can see a number of structures related to Jainism in India, especially in the form of Jain Temples. Rajasthan, the desert state of India, is one such destination which houses several Jain Temples.
Amongst the festivals of Rajasthan, the Desert festival of Jaisalmer is very popular. Every year in the month of January and February, the Desert Festival is held in the desert of Jaisalmer. During the Desert Festival, the golden sands of Jaisalmer becomes lively with magnificient colours, music and clamour of the festival.
Udaipur, popularly known as the Sun City, is a living instance of majesty and surprisal feelings. Like other parts of Rajasthan, Udaipur is also dotted with a number of magnificent palaces, grand forts and supercilious monuments. Amongst the wonders of Udaipur, the most outstanding is the majestic white City Palace. 
Although Rajasthan is the desert state of India, but lots of marvellous wonders are present in this rugged land. One such surprise is the massive Mehrangarh Fort, located in the city of Jodhpur. Categorized as one of the largest forts of India, the Meharngarh fort is also a famous tourist spot of Rajasthan and attracts lakhs of tourists from worldwide. 
One of the most sacred pilgrimage place of Jain community, Dilwara Jain Temples are located 2.5 kms away from Mount Abu. At Dilwara there are two Jain temples, namely Vimal Vasahi temple and Tejpal Temple, which are renowned for their beautiful marble carving. Amongst the temples, Vimal Vasahi is the oldest one. Built in 1031 A.D, this temple is consecrated to the first Tirthankar, Adinath.
Constructed during the reigning period of Rana Kumbha, the Jain temples have placed Ranakpur in the list of five main pilgrimage destinations of Jains in India. According to historic records, Rana Kumbha donated a vast stretch of land to Dhanna Shah, thereby enabling him to turn his dream of building a great temple into reality. Nowadays, the Ranakpur Jain Temples magnetise lakhs of visitors every year from various parts of the world.
